Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information PeleFoot collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. It covers the PeleFoot app at app.pelefoot.com and this website at pelefoot.com.
1. Who we are
PeleFoot is a platform that connects football players, scouts, and fans. It is operated by PELEFOOT Limited, No 1a, David Pelemo Street, Ereko Quarters, Ibafo, Ogun State, Nigeria (“PeleFoot”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@pelefoot.com.
2. What we collect
Everyone who creates an account
- Your email address and password (stored in hashed form, never in plain text).
- Your role: player, fan, or scout.
- Activity you create in the app, such as videos you like, save, rate, or comment on.
Players
- Your name, date of birth, gender, playing position, club, country, and state or region.
- A profile photo and the video clips and thumbnails you upload.
- Images of a government-issued ID (front and back), which we collect only to verify your identity. These are stored privately.
- If you are under 18: your parent or guardian's name, email address, and phone number, and a record of whether they have given consent.
Scouts
- Your name, team or agency, role or title, league, country, and phone number.
- A professional verification document, which we collect to check who you are. It is stored privately.
- The players you save and the contact requests you send.
Fans
- Your name, username, phone number, country, favourite club, preferred positions, and an optional photo.
Payments
If you buy a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, and your renewal date.
Our waitlist
If you join the waitlist on pelefoot.com, we collect your email address and whether you are a player, scout, or fan.
Collected automatically
Our hosting and security systems record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We use a sign-in session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
3. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your profile and content to the right people.
- To verify players and scouts, and to review reported content and keep the platform safe.
- To send you account emails, such as verification codes and password resets, and notifications in the app.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To send waitlist updates if you joined the waitlist. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To meet legal obligations and to protect our users and our rights.
4. Who can see your information
- Player profiles (name, age, position, club, location, photo, ratings, and videos) are visible to other signed-in PeleFoot users. A paused account can hide its profile; see section 8.
- Highlight reels are visible to the player and to scouts on a paid plan.
- A player's contact details are not shared with a scout unless the player approves that scout's contact request.
- Fan usernames and profile photos appear next to comments a fan posts.
- Identity documents are visible only to authorised PeleFoot administrators reviewing a verification.
5. Children and young players
PeleFoot is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Players aged 13 to 17 may join, but their profile and videos stay hidden from scouts until a parent or guardian has confirmed consent through a link we send them. A parent or guardian who has questions, or who wants a child's information removed, can email hello@pelefoot.com.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We use these service providers to run PeleFoot:
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in system, and file storage. Our primary database is hosted in London, United Kingdom.
- Vercel hosts the app and this website.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Stripe processes payments.
These providers only handle your information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.
7. International transfers
Our primary database and stored files are hosted in London, in the United Kingdom. PeleFoot Limited is based in Nigeria, so your information is transferred between Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and wherever you use the app from. Some of our other providers, such as Vercel (which runs the app and this website), Resend, and Stripe, may also process information in other countries, including the United States. Where information is transferred across borders, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as contractual protections, and on the data protection law that applies to us.
8. Keeping and deleting your information
- You can edit your profile details in Settings at any time.
- Pause your account from Settings to log out and, if you choose, hide your profile and videos while you are away. Logging back in reactivates it.
- Delete your account from Settings. This permanently deletes your account, profile, videos, highlights, and uploaded files, including identity documents and photos.
- Some copies may remain briefly in backups or logs kept by our providers, and we may keep limited records where the law requires.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to receive a copy of it. To use any of these rights, email hello@pelefoot.com. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully.
10. Security
We protect your information with access controls, encrypted connections, and private storage for sensitive documents. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PeleFoot grows. When we make a significant change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app or by email.
